How Parcel Weight is Calculated: Actual and Volumetric
When receiving a parcel in Canada, its actual weight and volumetric weight are determined. The number of volumetric weight units is calculated by the formula: (length, cm x height, cm x width, cm) / 5000). The cost of delivery is calculated based on the larger value of the actual and volumetric weight.
- Maximum physical weight of the parcel – 30 kg.
- Maximum volumetric weight of the parcel – 65 kg.
- Maximum dimensions of the parcel – 120 cm*60 cm*60 cm.
Volumetric weight is calculated by the formula: L x W x H, cm / 5000.
Example: A box measuring 90x60x60 cm – 90x60x60/5000 = 64.8 kg.

Procedure for Sending Mail Parcels to Canada for Private Individuals
The company «MEEST GERMANY GmbH» accepts parcels for shipment only in cardboard boxes with a maximum physical weight of up to 30 kg, and a maximum volumetric weight of 65 kg. For these purposes, it is best to use a new corrugated cardboard box, as a previously used box may not sufficiently protect the contents of your parcel. If you have to use a used box, make sure it is rigid, strong, and in excellent condition, without any visible damage. Choose the strength of the box that corresponds to the content being shipped.
When packing items in the parcel, it is necessary to ensure internal protection against possible damage. Try to wrap each item separately. Fragile items must be separated from each other, as well as from the corners, sides, top, and bottom of the box. Use appropriate packing material (bubble wrap, polystyrene "granules", crumpled paper, etc.) to fully protect your cargo. This will prevent items from damaging each other and protect the parcel contents from unforeseen shocks and vibrations. Items such as electronics, glass, ceramics require special attention when packing for safe transportation.
Important Information
It is allowed to send to Canada food products (except for products of animal origin) in factory packaging with a total weight of up to 10 kg. After you have packed all the items for shipment, it is necessary to securely close your parcel. For these purposes, it is best to use convenient and strong self-adhesive plastic tape.
To ensure quick and proper delivery, when labeling your parcel, remember that international shipments must include the contact person's name, phone number, postal code, and a detailed description of the contents. Therefore, make every effort to obtain the recipient's actual address. Always fully write the return address, including the complete actual address and postal code.
High-precision labels used by the company «MEEST GERMANY GmbH» when sending parcels include barcodes, sender and recipient address data, and region codes that ensure correct route formation. Additionally, the use of high-precision labels provides quick access to tracking and delivery information for your parcel.
We strongly urge you to follow these guidelines and remember that the company «MEEST GERMANY GmbH» is not financially responsible for damaged items that were not securely packed by the sender or placed in inappropriate containers.
